Undefeated Prospect Lucas Brennan Explains Why Bellator 260 Bout is a Catchweight Clash

Lucas Brennan (4-0, 4-0 BMMA) is just a day away from his fifth fight under the Bellator MMA banner. “Skywalker” made his mixed martial arts pro debut in the California-based promotion, submitting Thomas Lopez thanks to a rear-naked choke in the opening stanza at Bellator 224. Now, he will face promotional newcomer Matt Skibicki (4-3) in a 150-pound catchweight tilt. The reason behind the scheduled catchweight is that Brennan’s body is still growing due to his young age, since he celebrated his 21st birthday on June 3.

“As I’ve gotten older, making 145 gets a little bit harder and a little bit harder because naturally, I’m just growing,” Brennan said while talking with Sherdog. “I’m getting bigger and bigger every camp, not even on purpose. I’m just getting taller, getting bigger.” “Skywalker” doesn’t exclude that he will move up a division somewhere in the future.

“That’s a conversation that I had with my coach and with Bellator,” he said. “That’s something that’ll come in time. When I move up, I want to make sure I do it correctly and that I can grow into that weight class and feel that weight class because there are some big dudes. I struggle to make [1]45, but I’m not even the biggest [1]45.”
